This kit consists of bottles of black tinted pre-wax cleaner (polish) and liquid carnauba wax, 2 bottles of detailing spray and 2 applicator pads. \u00a0Conventional wax dries white, highlighting imperfections and chips in the paint. \u00a0These products are all tinted black and perform wonderfully on black paint. \u00a0My only gripe is that both the polish and wax come in tall bottles with screw-off caps that are all too easy to over-apply or spill. \u00a0A wider bottle and\/or a flow control nozzle would be huge improvements. \u00a0Oh, second gripe, the stuff is heavily perfumed. \u00a0My car really doesn&#8217;t need to smell like Fruit Loops!<\/li>\n<li>Call me paranoid, but before rubbing polish into my car&#8217;s paint I want to be certain that the surface is absolutely clean and free of grit. \u00a0Pros like to use paint cleaning clay for this purpose and so do I. \u00a0Griot&#8217;s Garage makes a <a title=\"Griot's paint cleaning wax\" href=\"http:\/\/www.amazon.com\/gp\/product\/B003V3PZOY\/ref=as_li_tl?ie=UTF8&amp;camp=1789&amp;creative=390957&amp;creativeASIN=B003V3PZOY&amp;linkCode=as2&amp;tag=therat00-20&amp;linkId=FUPG5JJUWYHOV7NJ\" target=\"_blank\">kit <\/a>that includes the clay and a bottle of Speed Shine, which is great for touchups in-between washes. The Turtle Wax kit includes an inferior version of Speed Shine that I don&#8217;t use.<\/li>\n<li>You&#8217;ll need a random orbital polisher to apply polish and wax. \u00a0The best one I&#8217;ve ever tried is manufactured by <a title=\"Orbital Polisher\" href=\"http:\/\/www.amazon.com\/gp\/product\/B009UKUUWE\/ref=as_li_tl?ie=UTF8&amp;camp=1789&amp;creative=390957&amp;creativeASIN=B009UKUUWE&amp;linkCode=as2&amp;tag=therat00-20&amp;linkId=HEYGG7VDX7LQNL6F\" target=\"_blank\">Griot&#8217;s Garage<\/a>. \u00a0The tool is well balanced, light and sufficiently powerful. \u00a0It comes with either a 10-foot or 25-foot cord. \u00a0Although I agree with others that 10 feet isn&#8217;t long enough to get around a vehicle, I prefer to just attach an easy to replace extension cord to get the extra length. Make a square knot to keep the cords from <a href=\"http:\/\/lifehacker.com\/5833990\/knot-your-extension-cords-like-a-carpenter-to-avoid-unwanted-unplugging\" target=\"_blank\">decoupling<\/a>.<\/li>\n<li><a title=\"Polish pads\" href=\"http:\/\/www.amazon.com\/gp\/product\/B00469JBW4\/ref=as_li_tl?ie=UTF8&amp;camp=1789&amp;creative=390957&amp;creativeASIN=B00469JBW4&amp;linkCode=as2&amp;tag=therat00-20&amp;linkId=RFE5FHGNTFMMBA2W\" target=\"_blank\">Polish pads <\/a>and <a title=\"Wax pads\" href=\"http:\/\/www.amazon.com\/gp\/product\/B00469JC8W\/ref=as_li_tl?ie=UTF8&amp;camp=1789&amp;creative=390957&amp;creativeASIN=B00469JC8W&amp;linkCode=as2&amp;tag=therat00-20&amp;linkId=7M7EJ2J7POCB7GRT\" target=\"_blank\">wax pads<\/a> for your orbital polisher.<\/li>\n<li>Microfiber cloths for removing polish and buffing. \u00a0I highly recommend <a title=\"Microfiber Towels\" href=\"http:\/\/www.amazon.com\/gp\/product\/B0031B4YU2\/ref=as_li_tl?ie=UTF8&amp;camp=1789&amp;creative=390957&amp;creativeASIN=B0031B4YU2&amp;linkCode=as2&amp;tag=therat00-20&amp;linkId=IYFFH52ZSP673LQH\" target=\"_blank\">this 36-pack<\/a>, which is an excellent value.<\/li>\n<li>The Turtle Wax products will stain your skin and clothes! \u00a0Grab a box of disposable <a title=\"Nitrile Gloves\" href=\"http:\/\/www.amazon.com\/gp\/product\/B004YE7PVA\/ref=as_li_tl?ie=UTF8&amp;camp=1789&amp;creative=390957&amp;creativeASIN=B004YE7PVA&amp;linkCode=as2&amp;tag=therat00-20&amp;linkId=43IGL3TFI4QFSTXQ\" target=\"_blank\">gloves<\/a> if you don&#8217;t already have some. \u00a0And don&#8217;t let this product get anywhere near a nice paver or concrete driveway. \u00a0You\u00a0<strong>will<\/strong> spill some. \u00a0Consider yourself warned!!<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2>Process<\/h2>\n<ol>\n<li>Thoroughly wash your car using your favorite detergent. \u00a0When I&#8217;m polishing or waxing my car, I prefer to wash the wheels first and then make a new bucket of detergent for washing the rest of the car. \u00a0I really like inserts like <a title=\"Bucket Insert\" href=\"http:\/\/www.amazon.com\/gp\/product\/B00F2NHVX4\/ref=as_li_tl?ie=UTF8&amp;camp=1789&amp;creative=390957&amp;creativeASIN=B00F2NHVX4&amp;linkCode=as2&amp;tag=therat00-20&amp;linkId=VSHTCBIMGAVYZQNY\" target=\"_blank\">this one<\/a> that fit into the wash bucket, allowing any grit to settle to the bottom.<\/li>\n<li>Go over all painted surfaces with cleaning clay to remove contaminants. \u00a0Do one small area at a time. \u00a0Spray with Speed Shine to lubricate the surface, wipe with a wad of clay and buff dry with a microfiber cloth.<\/li>\n<li>I learned this trick too late in life. \u00a0Blast the car dry with a leaf-blower, followed up by a microfiber towel.<\/li>\n<li>Apply the Turtle Wax polish following the manufacturer&#8217;s instructions for machine application. \u00a0Orange pads and a speed setting of 1 on the Griot&#8217;s orbital tool work well.<\/li>\n<li>Buff off the polish with a microfiber cloth.
